The Hunt — Privacy Policy

Digital Summit LLC ("we," "us") operates The Hunt app (the "App"), a real-world AI scavenger-hunt game with prizes. This policy explains what we collect and your choices. Because The Hunt uses location, may involve minors, runs prize sweepstakes, and offers in-app purchases, please read sections 4–7 carefully.

1. Information we collect

  • Account & profile: name/username, email, password (via Firebase Authentication), and profile details.
  • Date of birth / age: to age-gate content (e.g., 21+ social hunts) and apply minor protections.
  • Precise location (GPS): while you actively play, to verify you've reached a checkpoint. See §4.
  • Photos: images you submit to verify a checkpoint.
  • Gameplay & social: points, completed hunts, verifications, leaderboards, friends, crews, and invites.
  • Purchases: records of memberships and any in-app purchases (handled by Apple/Google or Stripe — we don't store full card numbers).
  • Prize tax info (winners only): for prizes that trigger tax reporting (generally $600+), the winner (or an adult guardian) provides a W-9 with their SSN/TIN. See §6.
  • Device & usage: diagnostics and identifiers to operate and improve the App.

2. How we use it

Run gameplay and checkpoint verification; maintain leaderboards and social features; operate prize sweepstakes and award/report prizes; age-gate restricted content; process purchases; provide support, security, and fraud prevention.

3. How we share it

  • Processors for us: Google Firebase (auth/database/storage/hosting), our AI provider (OpenAI — generates clues/art server-side), and payment processors (Apple, Google, Stripe).
  • Sponsors: sponsors receive aggregate, de-identified metrics only (e.g., visit counts) — never your personal information.
  • Legal/safety and prize administration as needed.
  • We do NOT sell your personal information.

4. Location

We request precise location only while you're using the App to play, to confirm you're at a checkpoint. We don't track your location in the background for advertising. You control location access in your device settings; denying it limits GPS-based verification (other verification methods may be available).

5. Children & minors

The App is not for children under 13. Players 13–17 may participate only with verified parent/guardian involvement, and prizes are awarded to the adult guardian (see the Official Sweepstakes Rules). We apply additional protections for minors and restrict age-gated content (e.g., 21+ hunts).

6. Prize tax information (SSN/W-9)

If you win a prize that requires tax reporting, we collect a W-9 (legal name + SSN/TIN) solely to comply with tax law and issue a Form 1099. This information is encrypted, access-restricted, used only for prize tax reporting, and retained only as long as the law requires, then deleted.

7. Purchases

Memberships and in-app purchases are billed by Apple/Google (in-app) or Stripe (web). Paid items do not affect your odds of winning any prize and are never required to enter or win.

8. Retention, your rights & security

We keep data while your account is active and as needed legally, then delete/de-identify it. You may access, correct, export, or delete your data — email privacy@digitalsummitlabs.com or use in-app deletion. We use encryption and access controls to protect your data.
